Eleanor from Ontario Canada here. I always thought Matthew Henson was the explorer, and Peary was the publicizer. I got that idea fifty years ago when reading about Mr. Henson around the time of his death, when he was in the news for a while. I always regret I did not take my teachers to task at that time, and it burns me up to read various news items today that continue to ignore this explorer by simplifying his role to one of "valet".
