Sample of the National Archives microfilm. The Peary family deposited
several diaries, numerous documents & letters in 1970. The illustration
(below) shows how it was recorded. The photographed pages are laid out from
left to right as both sides were filmed.

had stitching to hold the pages together, while a metal coil is more
common today. |
